In our pursuit of continued growth in 2022, we embarked on a remarkable journey with what would be my final magazine issue. A significant highlight was our partnership with The Nelson Adkins Museum for an extraordinary photoshoot. Our objective was to showcase jewelry as a form of art, emphasizing its artistic qualities rather than simply presenting it as a product. To enhance the overall aesthetic, we complemented the fashion spreads with watercolor backgrounds in colors that harmonized with the outfits, resulting in visually cohesive spreads.
One of my personal favorites was a photoshoot we conducted in our TIVOL studio. The concept aimed to demonstrate jewelry as wearable art. To accentuate and draw attention to their most spectacular pieces, we embellished a model with metallic body paint. The outcome surpassed our expectations and received substantial acclaim, as our sales associates reported that it was one of the most talked-about features in this issue. The magazine was scheduled to debut in spring, perfectly timed for one of the industry's most significant occasions - Mother's Day. Throughout the issue, we wanted to honor and celebrate women in the industry, as well as the extraordinary women we had the privilege of working with every day. This thematic focus allowed us to showcase their achievements, contributions, and unique stories, further enhancing the overall narrative of the magazine. The collaborative efforts and meticulous attention to detail poured into this magazine issue reflected our commitment to delivering a compelling and meaningful experience for our readers. I was thrilled to witness the positive response from our sales team and customers alike. |

In 2021, we embarked on an exciting endeavor to transform TIVOL magazine into a publication that exuded the same caliber and allure as nationally recognized magazines. This ambitious undertaking ignited our passion, and we eagerly embraced the challenge at hand. Our journey began with extensive research and analysis of various magazines, meticulously studying the qualities that set renowned publications apart as formidable leaders in the industry.
To elevate the overall aesthetic and presentation of TIVOL magazine, we placed a strong emphasis on enhancing the quality of our photoshoots. TIVOL Spring Catalog 2021
For our eagerly anticipated third Spring Mailer, we decided it was time for a refreshing change. After the tumultuous year that was 2020, we were determined to offer our co-op brands additional opportunities to shine. Understanding the high standards our brands uphold, we went the extra mile, creating personalized mock-ups that showcased their products in a press-ready fashion. These thoughtful gestures paid off as we successfully negotiated co-op deals, featuring multiple brands while maintaining the cohesive look and feel of our beloved catalog. This innovative approach surpassed our expectations, with the co-op deals actually covering the entire cost of printing the publication—an outcome that thrilled us to no end.
To ensure the jewelry took center stage in our magazine, we embarked on a creative journey. Vibrant spring colors took the spotlight, creating a harmonious mono-tone aesthetic that allowed the model to blend into the matching background, drawing attention to the captivating jewelry. As a striking contrast, we introduced textured paper pages with dramatic shadows, enticing readers to explore the allure of the showcased pieces. The transformation of our Spring Mailer is a testament to our commitment to innovation and pursuit of excellence. As the Upper Management team at TIVOL contemplated the transition of our annual magazine to an in-house project, I eagerly embarked on my fifth issue. Amidst the unprecedented challenges of the tumultuous year that was 2020, this endeavor presented a fresh set of obstacles. How could we strike the delicate balance between navigating the chaotic landscape and effectively promoting our products, all while offering our readers a truly exceptional experience?
With unwavering determination, I embraced the opportunity to create a wealth of original content for the publication, granting us full creative control and the ability to adapt our messaging in sync with the ever-shifting world. The challenge lay in the fact that we began developing the content in June, knowing it would only reach mailboxes in November. Undeterred, our team collaborated tirelessly, crafting stories that possessed the flexibility to be adapted to pandemic-friendly narratives in the event of potential lockdowns. Additionally, I strategically incorporated pieces that highlighted our store's remarkable ability to pivot and endure the tests of time within the vibrant city of Kansas City. It brings me great pride to reveal that over half of the publication's content was masterfully created by our exceptional in-house team during the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic. We tackled adversity head-on, seizing the opportunity to showcase our adaptability, resilience, and unwavering commitment to delivering a captivating reading experience. |

Following the resounding success of our inaugural in-house Spring Catalog in 2019, we embarked on the creation of yet another captivating edition. This time, our creative vision revolved around the intriguing interplay between exquisite high-end jewelry and the raw, unadorned beauty of natural wood elements. This concept had long piqued the interest of our esteemed ownership team, and I eagerly seized the opportunity to bring their vision to life.
For our captivating lifestyle shoot, we forged a remarkable collaboration with the esteemed local furniture manufacturer, UNRUH. Their stunning workshop served as the perfect backdrop, allowing us to seamlessly integrate their wood craftsmanship with our jewelry pieces. Through their generous contribution of wood samples and shavings, we artfully intertwined these rustic elements within our meticulously arranged flat lay pages. In our quest to curate an impeccable fusion of fashion and jewelry, we partnered with the esteemed Kansas City-based online boutique, Shop MRGN. Working closely with our discerning buyer and dedicated ownership team, we meticulously styled each outfit, meticulously selecting jewelry pieces that harmonized effortlessly with the ensemble. The result was a visually stunning and cohesive aesthetic that elevated every shot, adorning our models with an air of timeless elegance. The collaborative efforts of UNRUH, Shop MRGN, our passionate team, and the unwavering support of our discerning ownership team culminated in a Spring Catalog that transcended the ordinary. This edition exuded a unique allure, seamlessly weaving together the worlds of refined craftsmanship, sophisticated fashion, and exquisite jewelry. |

In 2019, we had an exciting vision to involve our customers in a whole new way for our magazine. We reached out to multi-generational families and invited them to join us in-store for special photoshoots. It was a heartwarming experience as they tried on our beautiful jewelry and became the stars of our magazine. We even gifted them the photos as a token of appreciation, and it's amazing to see how these photoshoots generated sales within their families even before the magazine was released.
We also wanted to shine a spotlight on our local community, so we featured some fantastic restaurants in our "Delicious Bites" story. It was a new challenge for me to incorporate food styling alongside my roles as a creative manager, art director, jewelry and set stylist. I enjoyed every moment of it, creating captivating visuals that blended our jewelry with mouthwatering cuisine. As the Creative Manager, I played a pivotal role in shaping this remarkable edition. I conceptualized, directed, edited, and designed nearly 70% of the magazine's content. It was an incredible opportunity to pour my creativity into every page and ensure a cohesive and visually captivating experience for our readers. Through careful tracking and analysis, I used marketing data to measure conversions and gain insights that would guide future issues. This responsibility was crucial as we transitioned to an entirely in-house publication approach. With passion, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence, I led the transformation of our magazine into a captivating collection of stories that beautifully intertwined the experiences of our customers, the flavors of our local community, and the timeless allure of our exceptional jewelry. We are thrilled by the support of our readers and the connections we've forged through every page. |
TIVOL Spring Catalog 2019
As the Creative Manager, I took on the responsibility of creating a direct mail catalog to replace one of our bi-annual magazines. This was an exciting project that allowed me to lead the entire process, starting from concept development all the way to print. One of the highlights was taking on the role of Creative Director for TIVOL's first in-house multi-location photoshoot, where I collaborated closely with our buyer, upper management, and ownership team to curate the featured products and create a comprehensive shot list that optimized each model's time.
Recognizing the importance of cost-efficiency, I delved into the realm of jewelry editing and honed my skills to reduce the need for external editing services. I also provided training to our in-house photographer to ensure we captured the best quality images possible. In fact, I personally edited every image in this mailer, resulting in stunning visuals that surpassed expectations. Some of these images even caught the attention of our jewelry vendors like Penny Preville and Marco Bicego, who utilized them in their own local advertisements. To better evaluate the impact of our marketing efforts, I implemented a comprehensive tracking system. Leveraging this system, I meticulously monitored conversions that could be directly attributed to this mailer. This data-driven approach enabled me to measure the effectiveness of our strategies and make informed decisions for future campaigns. By taking charge of the creative direction, refining our photography and editing processes, and implementing a robust tracking system, I played a vital role in the successful creation and distribution of this direct mail catalog. It was a rewarding experience to witness the positive response from our audience and witness firsthand the tangible results of our marketing efforts. |

Over the course of my involvement, spanning five issues of TIVOL's in-house magazine, I have experienced firsthand the intricacies and joys of bringing these projects to life. From inception to completion, I have been intricately involved in every step, taking on responsibilities such as concept development, creative direction, product selection, design, and more, all while adhering to demanding deadlines.
The depth of involvement and the range of tasks required for these publications have tested my skills and pushed me to grow both professionally and creatively. It has been a truly rewarding experience to witness each issue take shape and come together, knowing that my contributions played a vital role in their success.
